Tuu launches sustainability course for students

Singapore – The sustainability tracking dashboard and monthly rating for schools, Tuu, has launched its first multimedia course for students.

The 12-hour / 4-week Intro to Sustainability course is made up of videos, virtual field trips and quizzes. It can be used as an Extra Curricular Activity or alongside existing course modules for secondary students.

“We believe that young people are our final hope to make generational changes in how we think about sustainability and tackle climate change,” said Ian Paynton, Tuu’s co-founder.

“Our aim is to put students at the heart of sustainability efforts in schools, which is why we’ve launched extra curricular courses to accompany our sustainability tracking software and monthly rating.”

The course, which is being offered free to 100 schools, comes with resources for assignments, case studies and projects that introduce students to Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities, 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action).

Students are awarded SDG badges at the end of each unit and a certificate upon completion.

“Student engagement really was at the core of its design. We wanted to avoid students simply sifting through the course content, but to truly own it,” said Stewart Utley, Tuu’s Learning and Education Lead.

“The course aims to equip students with the skills vital for interaction with the discourse surrounding global environmental issues, but also to work with ideas and concepts that directly impact their own contexts.”

“Schools have been generating awareness about sustainability for a long time but with the Tuu’s Intro to Sustainability course, which can be paired with the tracking dashboard and monthly rating, we’re aiming to give students the agency they need to truly make a difference around campus and beyond,” added Stewart.
