More about the Tuu sustainability dashboard

Got questions? See answers to frequently asked questions about our sustainability dashboard and monthly rating, below. If your question is not answered here, feel free to get in touch - we'd love to hear from you.

What is Tuu? Tuu is a sustainability partner for schools. It gives structure for its schools to gather and upload sustainability data. Tuu helps schools track their sustainability progress, make more informed decisions and celebrate their progress using the monthly Tuu Rating. It also offers schools online sustainability courses to use as ECAs/CCAs and teacher resource packs for face to face learning.
What makes Tuu different? Tuu offers monthly tracking of sustainability performance allowing schools to create an instant benchmark to improve. We believe that by constantly tracking (rather than annual auditing) we can encourage rapid sustainable performance improvement in schools. Making the most of Tuu Sustainability courses, Tuu encourages schools to put students at the heart of their sustainability tracking efforts to positively impact their behaviours as the next generation of green leaders.
Who is Tuu for? Tuu is for schools that want to measure operational sustainability and stand out from other schools by tracking a comprehensive set of sustainability metrics in partnership with a third party. It’s for headmasters, deputy heads, teachers, students and even parents or members of the wider community who are on the school’s sustainability board.
Does Tuu track carbon footprints or carbon offsetting? While Tuu does take into consideration carbon footprints in its overall rating and provide carbon use numbers where possible, Tuu is not primarily a carbon rating app.  While carbon reduction is a very important goal, it can often be difficult to relay results internally and to partners and customers. Tuu’s goal is for its customers to improve their sustainability performance in a transparent and easily understood way.
How do I open and manage an account? All accounts are currently opened manually by Tuu staff who can set up multiple email addresses from your school to access the platform. After the account is opened you can login anytime to check your school’s eco performance and use management tools that allow you to assign tasks, upload proofs, set reminders, add and delete users and have full control over your data.
Who sees data in my business?  View and Edit permissions are assigned by the Account Owner. The Account Owner can create multiple user accounts for all staff that will be responsible for data input. Each section of data can be viewed or edited by anyone given permission by the Account Owner.
Can I compare data across multiple properties in one account?  Yes, Tuu is designed for schools with portfolios or properties or multiple campuses to track their eco performance from one central account, but this feature will be available once Beta Trials are complete.
Can I compare data with properties in different accounts?  Yes, if you are given permission by the owner of that account.
Can I have multiple users in one account? Yes, you can have as many users as needed in one account. Tuu is a collaborative tool that encourages businesses to involve as many people and students as possible in obtaining a better Tuu Rating and improving the school’s sustainability.
How do I know that the Tuu Rating is accurate?  We provide a detailed Help section with links to the data and research used to collect all information and the methodology and calculation for each data input. In order to ensure that the data provided by customers is accurate, all Tuu Users provide Proofs (scanned invoices/PO’s/equipment and usage photos) to support data provided which are encrypted and securely stored. Tuu uses computational learning algorithms to measure all new data against the original data set and identify unusual patterns and inaccuracies.
If we have a swimming pool at our school, will we get penalized by the Tuu Rating for teaching students how to swim? Your water usage will be higher than a school without a swimming pool, and therefore your Tuu Rating for water usage will be higher. But Tuu encourages schools to have open dialogues with its students about why a swimming pool is important, and potential ways to improve your Tuu Rating in other areas. Perhaps you could allow the local community to use the swimming pool for swimming lessons? This would bring your Tuu Rating up as part of the Curriculum and Community rating and help make up for any lost points in the Water section.
Will my Tuu Rating be published? Not without the Users’ consent. We believe that high scoring or rapidly improving users will be happy to share their Tuu Rating for PR and marketing purposes, but will only do so with consent from the User granted in the Permission protocol. Security and privacy are central to Tuu, so the User must enable Permission specifically for this purpose. How do I close my account?  All accounts can be closed with 30 days notice.
